Private sessions are usually scheduled on Monday, Thursday or Friday evenings.
We are usually booked about 3-4 weeks out.
(If you can not afford the minimum donation suggested above please contact BCBC to let us know what you CAN afford and we'll try to work with you)
What is the training philosophy of the Brew City Bully Club?
The BCBC training philosophy is behavior based, positive reinforcement. If you are going to do any one thing with your dog we ask that you do positive reinforcement. Reward your dog through treats, toys, tones or touch every time they do a behavior that you want to reinforce.
The most successful modern training theories suggest that reinforcing good behavior with rewards while using constructive discipline is far more successful than "old school" punishment or negative reinforcement. Positive reinforcement has been shown to be the most effective way to train a dog because rewarding good behavior will increase the likelihood of that behavior being repeated.
Similarly, the use of constructive discipline, which is marking bad behavior by using vocal sounds to interrupt the behavior and refocus the dog onto something more positive (i.e., "Off" (the furniture) - "go to your mat"), ‘time-outs’ or simply ignoring the dog, ensures that the dog learns which behaviors are unrewarded and is therefore less likely to repeat the behavior.
Positive reinforcement and constructive discipline require consistency, patience, and excellent timing of the reward. BCBC can help you to learn to implement a positive regimen in your household - paving the way to your own Breed Ambassador Pit Bull!
**Many Pit Bull owners have problems walking their dogs. To help with walking appropriately we highly recommend the Weiss Walkie. It is a fabulous tool designed by one of the nation's leading Certified Applied Animal Behaviorists, Dr. Emily Weiss. See more at:
